CV Ria Patricia Röder
  • Ria Patricia Röder (born 1983 in Verden, Germany) is a German-Portuguese visual artist currently living and working in Berlin, Germany. She studied in Karlsruhe, Vienna and Berlin where she earned her MFA from Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin).

Röder received several grants and residency scholarships, among others from Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German National Academic Foundation), DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and CCA Andratx, Mallorca. Her work has been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions, amongst others at Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland; CCA Andratx, Mallorca, Spain; Oldenburger Kunstverein, Germany; Sla307 Art Space, New York City; Kunstsammlung Gera, Germany; Kunstverein Hannover, Germany and Kunsthalle Wien, Austria. The Scanograms were recently presented in solo exhibitions at Sla307 Art Space in New York City and Galerie de Zaal in Delft, The Netherlands.

For her latest artbook #chainofaction (Revolver Publishing Berlin, 12/2019), Röder invited the following eleven authors to each select a single Scanogram and create a text in response to it: The poet Matthew Rohrer, the fiction writers Ramona Ausubel, Amie Barrodale, Lauren Groff, Lucy Ives, Rebecca Schiff, Dana Spiotta, Laura van den Berg, and Diane Williams, as well as the authors and curators Charlotte Cotton and Stefan Gronert. Their fascinating contributions show us in eleven distinct voices how an image and its pictorial elements can trigger a narrative #chainofaction.
